ABOUT US

The Africa Oceans Council (AOC) is an independent, international Pan-African Blue Economy business and investment network. It serves as Africa’s leading alliance for sustainable ocean and maritime business leadership, uniting industry leaders and enterprises to advance the continent’s blue economy sectors.

AOC fosters multi-stakeholder collaboration to drive blue wealth creation, inclusive blue growth, ocean sustainability, and impactful socio-economic development across Africa.

Rooted in the Africa Integrated Maritime Strategy 2050 (AIMS 2050) adopted by the African Union in 2015, AOC represents the Pan-African ocean, maritime, and marine business community, advancing the goals of the Africa Maritime Transport Charter and contributing to the realization of the Africa Blue Economy Strategy of 2018.

AOC was established with the objective to:

advance Africa’s sustainable ocean and maritime economy (Blue Growth)
promote people centered sustainable blue economy development,
provide science based innovative global ocean, marine and climate protection

Ensuring inclusive socio economic and upward financial mobility in society, particularly the youth dividend and women, based on quality ocean and marine ecosystem health, through the implementation of innovative business driven solutions, opportunities and practices in sustainability and robust corporate social investment.
